Day Five
Reclaiming 6 7 • Stephanie Chase

You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. - Deuteronomy 6:7
Whether through your own children, grandchildren, church, school, or social media—you’ve probably heard the trending phrase “6 7”. It’s become a fun way kids react to something exciting, funny, or impressive. You’ll hear them shout “6 7” when someone makes an incredible basketball shot. It’s often said when something random or unexpected happens. “6 7” has become a shared expression of excitement and unity. Today, we are reclaiming “6 7” as a rallying verse for the next generation—Deuteronomy 6:7.
In this passage, God gives a clear command to parents, grandparents, and our church: Teach His commands diligently to your children. This is not a suggestion or optional advice. God knows the power of His Word and the impact it has when passed from one generation to the next. So, let’s teach them!
Know it Passionately. Deuteronomy 6:6 says, “These words that I command you today shall be on your heart.” Before we can teach God’s Word, it must live in us first. We don’t have to be Bible experts. We simply need to spend time in God’s word daily. Commit for the next 6–7 weeks to spend time daily reading the Bible.
Teach it Diligently. Be intentional to share God’s truth with the children in your life. It may seem they aren’t listening, or your words aren’t making a difference. God hasn’t asked you to change hearts—He asks you to be diligent. Commit for the next 6–7 weeks to talk about what you’re learning daily from God’s Word with your kids.
Talk it Consistently. Make conversations about God a natural rhythm of life—at the dinner table, on the way to school, after a game, and at bedtime. In a text message, you might write, “I was thinking about the Bible today and wanted to share it with you.” Allow car rides to be intentional spiritual connections. Listen. Share your faith stories. Ask questions about their beliefs. Devote the next 6–7 weeks to consistently creating space for spiritual conversations.
The Next Initiative is a powerful opportunity to teach the next generation about generosity. Make a bold “6 7” move—learn what God says about generosity, talk openly about giving, and model a generous life. Share your generosity journey with your children and family. Pray about your participation together. Allow God to use this “6 7” opportunity to teach His commands diligently through you.
